What the app is

Adinand Auto File Sorter is an Android app that moves loose files from folders you pick into Downloads › Sorted Files, one sub-folder per file type.

Features, as built

• Sorts by file extension into seven folders: Documents, Images, Videos, Apps, Audio, Archives and Others.
• “Sort Now” runs a sort by hand, with an optional preview that lists each file and its destination first.
• With Pro it also sorts on app launch and in the background while the app is closed: every 15 minutes, every hour, every 6 hours or once a day, set up again after a restart or an update.
• With Pro it watches more than Downloads: WhatsApp Documents, Telegram, Bluetooth and Screenshots where those folders exist, plus any folder you add.
• With Pro, custom rules match a list of extensions or a “Name contains” word, run top to bottom with the first match winning, and have no cap on how many you create.
• Records every sort in History. Free undoes the latest sort; Pro undoes any past sort, with no time limit.
• Finds duplicate files for free on Android 11 and later by comparing exact content; copies you clean go to a trash folder for 7 days, and one copy is always kept.
• Never overwrites: a name clash gets a “(1)” style suffix, and a byte-identical file counts as already moved.
• A demo runs the real sort and undo on 14 sample files without touching anything on the phone.

What it will not do

• It runs on Android only, from Android 10 up; there is no version for any other platform.
• Only files sitting directly in a watched folder are sorted; sub-folders are left unopened.
• Everything ends up in one place, Downloads › Sorted Files, so a WhatsApp document does not stay beside WhatsApp.
• The file extension decides where a file goes. The app does not look inside a file to choose a folder, and no learning model is involved.
• Date and size play no part in routing; the only name matching is a Pro rule's “Name contains” word.
• Files with no extension, empty files, files still downloading, and anything changed in the last 30 seconds are skipped.
• The phone camera's own folder is never offered as a watched folder.
• Background sorting is not guaranteed. Some phones hold back background work, and the app shows a warning when a scheduled run has not happened.
• Background runs show no preview; switching the feature on is the consent.
• Duplicate matching is exact, so two photos that only look alike are not treated as copies.
• Watched folders and the duplicate finder need Android 11 or later.
• Clearing junk or cache files, backing files up online and general file browsing are outside what it does.
• An SD card is covered only if you add a folder on it as a watched folder, which is a Pro feature.

Privacy and file handling

• No accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no ads. The only network use is Google Play Billing.
• File contents are read only on the phone, for two safety checks: comparing a name clash, and hashing files to find duplicates. They are never uploaded.
• Every move copies the file, verifies the copy, then deletes the original; if a step fails, the original stays where it was.
• Sorting never deletes anything. Only the duplicate cleaner removes copies, and it puts them in its 7-day trash.
• Sort history is stored in a database on the phone.
• If you uninstall the app, sorted files stay in Downloads › Sorted Files.

Permissions it asks for

• All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) on Android 11 and later; on Android 10, the older read and write storage permissions instead.
• Also declared: INTERNET (for Play Billing only), BILLING, POST_NOTIFICATIONS and RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED.
• No battery-optimisation exemption is requested.
• Notifications are optional. Deny them and background sorting still runs; it just posts nothing.

Free and Pro

• Free, with no counts: manual sorting, the preview, choosing categories, viewing history, undoing the latest sort, and the duplicate finder.
• Pro is a single in-app purchase with no subscription. It adds background and on-launch sorting, custom rules, extra watched folders and undo of any past sort.
• There is no trial.
• The upgrade prompt appears only after three successful sorts, and no more than once every 30 days.
• This page carries no price, because the figure is set in Google Play and varies by country. Read it on the Google Play listing or in the app.
